The EOTech XPS2 Holographic Weapon Sight (HWS) demonstrates advanced optical engineering. It offers shooters durability, rapid target acquisition, and reliability. The XPS2-0 is renowned for its compact design, superior performance and bomb-proof durability. This is the non–night vision version of EOTech’s shortest and lightest HWS. EOtech optics have become a preferred choice among military personnel, law enforcement officers, and civilian shooters for a reason. This optic is duty rated and battle proven. Our Feedback

The EOTech XPS2 is a rock-solid holographic sight that delivers crisp reticle clarity and fast target acquisition. It is easy to stay on target, even during rapid shots. Mounting it and sighting it in is straight forward. Adjusting the brightness is intuitive, which eliminates any fumbling in the field. Best of all, we appreciate the surprisingly long battery life, ensuring it’s ready to go whenever we need it without constant worry about power.
Only downside? Eventually EOtechs glass tends to delaminate which requires servicing to fix. This occurs when the glass the reticle is projected onto begins to show signs of failure. Oftentimes this defect can take years to begin to develop. This is a common issue with EOtechs. Don’t fret. Their support will often repair this for free after you get an RMA number.

Design and Build Quality

Measuring 3.8 inches in length, 2.1 inches in width, and 2.5 inches in height, and weighing a mere 9 ounces, the XPS2 is EOTech’s shortest and lightest holographic sight to date. The 1 MOA dot paired with the 65 MOA ring makes transitions smooth, and the sight has always held zero during our tests. A Minute of Angle (MOA) is an angular measurement. A MOA is 1/60th of a degree. 1 MOA spreads about 1″ per 100 yards. Its compact footprint frees up valuable rail space, allowing for the addition of rear iron sights or magnifiers.

The sight is powered by a single CR123 lithium battery, providing approximately 1,000 continuous hours of operation at a nominal setting of 12. The rated operating temperature range is -40°F to 140°F (-40°C to 60°C). We can vouch for it working flawlessly in 15°F. Constructed with a rugged aluminum hood and a sturdy housing, the XPS2 is built to withstand harsh conditions. It boasts water resistance up to 10 feet.

Optical Performance

The 1 MOA dot paired with the 65 MOA ring makes transitions smooth, and the sight has always held zero during our tests. An EOTech reticle might look fuzzy because of how holographic sights work. Instead of a solid image, the reticle is made up of tiny “pixels,” which can be noticeable up close. This can make it seem slightly blurry or grainy, especially when compared to a standard red dot sight. This is a normal phenomena and one of the features of having a true holographic weapon sight.
If you sight your center dot in at 50 yards, then the bottom of the 65 MOA ring will be your point of impact at 7 yards. This gives you an advantage over a single red dot as you don’t have to remember your hold overs. 

The sight offers 20 daylight brightness settings, enabling users to adjust the reticle intensity based on ambient lighting conditions. This model is NOT rated for Night Vision use. If you are looking for something to use under night vision look to the XPS3 and EXPS3 models. 

One of the standout advantages of holographic sights like the XPS2 is the ability to shoot with both eyes open. This “two eyes open” shooting method enhances situational awareness, providing a broader field of view and improved target tracking.

Mounting and Compatibility

The XPS2 is designed for versatility. It mounts seamlessly onto 1″ Weaver or MIL-STD-1913 rails. This ensures compatibility with a wide range of firearms. Its compact size is ideal for shooters aiming to maintain maneuverability. The lightweight design ensures there is no compromise on performance. It’s size allows room for accessories like magnifiers or iron sight backups. One of the key features of the XPS series is the direct to rail mounting. If a built in riser/QD mounting option is needed look at the EXPS series of the optic.

Battery Efficiency

The sight’s compact design benefits from using a single CR123 battery. This battery also provides a substantial battery life. Users can expect up to 1,000 continuous hours of operation at a standard brightness setting. This reduces the frequency of battery changes. It ensures the sight is ready when needed. When the battery is dying it will blink to indicate that. In the 2 years of owning this model, we’ve switched the battery once. We recommend keeping extras on hand either on kit or in the grip of your rifle.
